Controversial Battle Over Homebuilding Plans in Oslo: Corruption Allegations and Sky-High Conflict

In the spring of 2022, the Oslo city council put two big plans on the table: The Small House Plan, which includes around 40,000 homes. And a new strategy for high-rise buildings.

Both have created great engagement. The small-house plan was to prevent the development of green areas and preserve the character of the small-house areas. But it received strong opposition from both homeowners and developers. The fact that the building stoppage, which was introduced overnight, has lasted for a year and a half, has not dampened the level of conflict.
