From September 26 to 29, nearly 130 professionals meet in Strasbourg to discuss and discuss their profession, current projects, and heritage issues linked to the maintenance, preservation and safeguarding of cathedrals. Organized by the European Association of Architects of Cathedrals, Churches and Workshop Managers, with the support of the Culture fund of the three-year contract 2021-2023 Strasbourg European capital, the Company of Chief Architects of Historical Monuments, the Archbishopric of Strasbourg and the Museums of the City of Strasbourg, the conference is a highlight of conviviality which allows for closer ties and the sharing of experiences.
“Knowledge and experience cross borders, without any real language barrier,” explains Eric Fischer, director of the Fondation de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame. Same words from Annette Loeffel, president of the association of cathedral architects of Europe, delighted to be able to bring together her French, English, German, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Swiss, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Austrian counterparts… “That allows us to discuss the problems that everyone faces and to look for solutions together,” she says.
In addition to workshops, meetings, conferences and visits intended for professionals, with a strong focus around the Strasbourg cathedral, an evening is reserved for the general public. Thursday September 28, from 7 p.m., an organ concert by Guillaume Nussbaum will welcome fans to the cathedral. It will be followed by a conference on Notre-Dame de Paris, presented by Philippe Villeuneuve and Rémi Fromont. Entrance is free, without reservation, within the limit of 800 places available.
