Tram Derails in Nice After Collision with Semi-Trailer

The collision a little before 10 a.m., near Carras, on Avenue de la Californie, derailed the train. Line 2 of the Nice tramway was stopped this Wednesday morning after a traffic accident with a semi-trailer transporting cars. The driver employed by Lignes d’Azur is the only “light” injured person, we learned from the Alpes-Maritimes departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis). He was taken to hospital. His passengers, as well as the driver of the truck, were unhurt.

Since 10:30 a.m., the line has only been operating “in a carousel” from Port Lympia to Magnan and between Ferber and the Cadam/Airport terminus, reports the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis. Bus line 12, which runs in parallel on the Promenade des Anglais, has been reinforced until the service is fully restored, a priori in the middle of the afternoon. The damaged train must be re-tracked and evacuated.
