The 7:33 p.m. train 887712 Metz-Luxembourg was stopped on Tuesday September 26 at Thionville station at 8:35 p.m. due to a suspicious object on board. The train was then taken off the track so as not to disrupt the traffic of other trains and directed to an additional location.

The train was obviously evacuated.

“A strict procedure”

“In these cases, we must respect a strict mandatory procedure which initially involves the intervention of the police and possibly deminers,” explains the person on duty at the SNCF.

The police, since they are the ones who have to make the decision, preferred not to take any risks and decided to call in the deminers. Who arrived on site around 11 p.m.

The end of their intervention was notified at 11:45 p.m.

It was abandoned luggage

It was in fact abandoned luggage, in this case a vanity case.
