Commander, US President Joe Biden’s Dog, Bit Secret Service Agent at White House: 11th Known Case of German Shepherd Bites

US President Joe Biden’s dog Commander bit a Secret Service agent at the White House, CNN reports. This was the 11th known case of German Shepherd bites.

According to the head of the communications department of the US Secret Service Anthony GuglielmiOn September 25, an intelligence officer “came into contact with the Biden family’s pet” and was then bitten.

“The officer was treated by comprehensive medical personnel,” he added.

According to Secret Service emails as well as CNN, Commander has been involved in at least 11 bite incidents at the White House and Delaware, including an incident in November 2022 in which an officer was hospitalized after a dog bit him on the arms and thighs.

The New York Post reported that the dog bit at least seven people in four months from October 2022 to January 2023, including several Secret Service agents providing security at the White House, raising questions about the dog’s aggressiveness.

Press Secretary Jill BidenFirst Lady of the USA, Elizabeth Alexander stated that after these episodes, the presidential family began to keep the dog on a leash more often, engaged in additional training and limited the places where the animal could run.

Biden’s other dog, Major, has also been involved in biting incidents at the White House. However, the dog was later given to family friends. The commander arrived at the White House in 2021.
