Alexander Zverev wins the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu, China against the Russian Roman Safiullin (ATP 55) 6:7 (2:7), 7:6 (7:5), 6:3.
For Zverev it was the second tournament victory of this year on the ATP tour – the 21st of his career.
The world number 10 from Germany had a difficult time at the beginning. He clearly lost the first round in the tiebreak, but he narrowly won the second – also in the tiebreak. The deciding set was then a clear affair for the favorite.
Zverev also won the second meeting with the Russian, whom he had already defeated in Roland Garros in 2021. The 26-year-old Safiullin, who had not dropped a single set in the entire tournament, missed his debut title in his first final appearance on the ATP tour.
