The number of working Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands has increased compared to last year, Statistics Netherlands reports. Ukrainian women in particular have started working more often.
At the end of 2022, about 44 percent of Ukrainian women were employed. Six months later it was more than half. An increase can also be seen among men, although not as high as among women. 41 percent of men now have a job.
Half of Ukrainians work in business services, which includes employment agencies. In addition, many Ukrainians work in the trade, transport and catering industries. What is striking is that a large proportion of refugees changed jobs within a year: about 39 percent.
Exceptional position
Ukrainians who ended up in the Netherlands after the Russian invasion can immediately start work. This puts them in an exceptional position, because other refugees from outside the EU cannot do that.
