Italian authorities investigate Aurelio de Laurentiis, president of the Naples, current Italian Serie A champion, for his involvement in the alleged fictitious capital gains from the signing of Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen. The player joined the team in 2020 from French side Lille.
The Rome Prosecutor’s Office registered De Laurentiis on Tuesday as suspects. They accuse him of a crime of “accounting falsehood” and “fraudulent declaration.” This after receiving the documentation held by the Neapolitan prosecutors, although the sports justice system has already archived this investigation.

De Laurentiis’s wife, Jacqueline Baudit, and his children Eduardo and Valentin are also being investigated, according to local media.

The transfer last August from Naples to Rome of the investigation into the alleged fictitious capital gains surrounding the purchase of Osimhen is due to the fact that it was in the Italian capital where the budget for the operation was approved.
The Nigerian striker cost the Neapolitan club 71.25 million euros, but Napoli directly paid only 50, while the prosecution is investigating the valuation of 21.25 million of four players, goalkeeper Karnezis and three youngsters (Liguori, Manzi and Palmieri), as a technical counterpart, who never played for Lille, according to the same sources.
