For his part, Mohamed Rayhan, a member of the Butchers Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said that meat prices will not witness an increase during the current period, as they range from 300 to 330 pounds as the maximum price in the markets, as a result of the clear stagnation in the purchasing movement inside butcher shops, and there is also an abundance of supply in the markets. .

Factors affecting meat prices

A member of the Butchers Division revealed that there are many main factors that control the prices of meat in the markets, as the price rose in the middle of the year coinciding with Eid Al-Adha, and a kilo reached 450 pounds with a shortage in supply, in addition to the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the pound at the beginning of the year. Until January, the cost of breeding rose, in addition to the rising prices of feed that is imported from abroad in hard currency.

For his part, Saeed Zaghloul, a member of the Butchers Division at the Giza Chamber of Commerce, said that the price of meat is stable in various markets and supply outlets, as well as consumer complexes and Ministry of Agriculture outlets, noting that the price of a kilo of local meat starts at 260 pounds per kilo and varies according to the geographic scope of the region and the type of meat.

Low meat prices in the markets

The member of the Butchers Division pointed out that there is a state of stagnation in the markets and a decline in sales prices, especially after Egyptian families focused on the expenses of preparing to enter schools and universities, in addition to citizens heading to summer resorts, and thus sales declined.

The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade had announced an increase in the pumping of frozen and fresh meat products into consumer mall outlets, where the prices were as follows:
