Rotterdam was not an unknown destination for Hilton, far from it. Last May, its flagship brand celebrated sixty years of existence at the Hilton Rotterdam, the brand’s fourth establishment in Europe after those in Madrid, Istanbul and Amsterdam, inaugurated the year before, in 1962. A place of dean of international hotels in the city Dutch architecture which earned the building designed by architect Huig Maaskant a national monument in 2016. More recently, last year, it was also in this large port metropolis that its contemporary brand Motto by Hilton made its debut on the continent.
The story will soon continue with two new hotels. The American group has concluded the affixing of two of its brands to establishments recently acquired by the investor Annexum: le Mainport by Inntel Hotels et l’Inntel Hotels Rotterdam Centre. The latter, opened in 1989 by the Dutch group Inntel – known in particular for its astonishing hotel in Amsterdam with a facade made up of traditional houses placed one on top of the other – is set to become a DoubleTree by Hilton in 2024, after having completed a phase renovation.
Located on the banks of the Meuse, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, the DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Center will offer business travelers 265 rooms with harbor and waterfront views, all matched with a spa and swimming pool, a bar like a restaurant. Above all, in this important business destination, the hotel will offer them a large meeting space to the 15e et 16e floors with daylight and unobstructed views of the entire city.
The organizers will be able to play on the synergies with the Mainport Hotel, adjacent to the DoubleTree. which now has meeting rooms and a reception room for up to 500 people, the two hotels thus offering a combined capacity of 800 people. Synergies which will also benefit individual travelers who will be able to access the services of one or other of the establishments, in particular the private car park equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles but also the restaurant and the cocktail bar with a view of the Mainport.
Opened its doors in 2013, this five-star hotel was until now a member of the Design Hotels chain and will move after renovation to the Curio Collection by Hilton brand. Located like its neighbor near the Leuvehaven metro station, this hotel with contemporary decor offers 215 bright rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows, in addition to a spa and a Life Fitness gym.
Although the hotels will begin improvement work, they will remain operational and will be marketed as Hilton affiliated hotels, further strengthening the group’s presence in the country. “ Hilton is proud of our heritage in the Netherlands, which dates back more than 60 years, and we are actively growing our portfolio to meet guest demand, with 18 hotels currently in operation or under development“, declared Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development of the American group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
