British police are investigating reports against Russell Brand
London police announced on Monday that they had received “a number of reports” of sexual assaults against British actor Russell Brand (48 years old), since women accused him of rape and sexual assault in an investigation published in the middle of this month.
The police indicated that these accusations relate to “non-recent” incidents, noting that they are continuing their investigations and have not arrested anyone so far.
The actor, who pursues provocation and expresses his opposition to the institutions of power, through his accounts on social networking sites, through which millions of users follow him, denied what was revealed in a joint investigation conducted by The Times, The Sunday Times, and the British Channel 4, and published on September 16.
In the investigation, four women accused him of rape, sexual assault and psychological violence.
Brand emphasized that his relationships had always been “consensual,” even during a period in which he admitted his sexual behavior was reckless.
In a video clip he posted on his social media accounts on Saturday, he described his situation over the past week as “difficult” and “horrific,” thanking his fans for their support.
He also criticized the British government, which he said had asked major technology companies to take measures against him, denouncing “collusion between the deep state and companies” and “corruption and censorship in the media.”
