21 Saudi Female Players Shine at the Opening of the Asian Games

21 Saudi female players lead the green march at the opening of the “Asian Games”

Chinese President Xi Jinping officially opened on Saturday the 19th Asian Games, hosted by the Chinese city of Hangzhou. Then followed the concert’s silent and musical segments, which touched on the history of China, and the display of the torch for the tournament, followed by a display of the queue of the 45 Asian countries participating in the tournament, and then the launching of digital fireworks, which is implemented for the first time in such competitions.

The Saudi flag was carried during the Saudi delegation’s march in the parade queue by the player Donia Abu Talib and the jockey Ahmed Al Sharbatly. Amidst an exceptional female presence, with the participation of 21 players from various sports.

Al-Sharbatli expressed his pride in raising the Kingdom’s flag in the Asian forum alongside his colleague Donia, noting that this is a source of pride, and it is a dream that any Saudi citizen dreams of, hoping that he and his colleagues will succeed in presenting the level that befits the reputation of Saudi sports.

While Donia Abu Talib expressed her pride in carrying the Saudi flag for the second time in her career after the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games (Konya 2022), she said: “I aspire to provide an honorable level that reflects the support and interest provided by the wise leadership for sports in the Kingdom, and the continuous follow-up by the President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.” Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and his deputy, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi.

On the other hand, the Saudi team table tennis team lost to Vietnam in its second match in the first group competitions, with a score of (3-1).

On Friday, Al-Akhdar lost to the world’s number one seed, China, with a score of (3-0).

Ali Al-Khadrawi, Azzam Alam, Turki Al-Mutairi, and Khaled Al-Sharif represented Al-Akhdar in the two matches.

With these results, Green Table was eliminated from the team competitions after the draw placed him in the iron group, with his participation remaining in the doubles and singles competitions.

The Saudi Taekwondo national team players, Wahid Al-Mughais and Abrar Al-Bukhari, will open the Taekwondo competition on Sunday with their presence in the poomsae category.

The players of the Saudi rowing team, Turki Al-Arif and Sultan Al-Shali, continue their participation in the tournament, when they are in the doubles competitions for Group (B) to determine places from 6-12, at Fuyang Water Sports Lake in Hangzhou.

Al-Aref and Al-Shali are participating in the race, along with the teams of Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan and Thailand.

The Saudi e-sports team player, Ahmed Mujahid, has finished his technical training, in preparation for participating in the tournament, when he is in the (EA Sports FC Online) game competitions at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at the headquarters prepared for the e-sports competitions in the tournament.

The Saudi handball team will launch its first match in the tournament, by meeting its Japanese counterpart, at the Sports Center at 4:00 pm on Sunday for the fourth group, which includes alongside them; Iran and Mongolia.

For its part, the Saudi under-23 football team is looking to snatch the ticket to qualify for the second round of the football competition in the Asian Asiad, when it meets its Vietnamese counterpart in its last match in Group Two, at the Linpeng Sports Center Stadium in the city of Huzhou on Sunday, specifically at It’s seven o’clock in the evening, Saudi time.

Al-Akhdar had completed his training with the participation of all players, which included fitness recovery exercises, training on cross balls, maneuvering in the middle of the field, and shooting on goal, before concluding with stretching exercises.
