”Young professional filmmakers from Hauts-Bassins, elite in the digital age”, is the project officially launched by the CINOMADE association, this September 18, 2023, in Bobo-Dioulasso, during a press briefing . The objective of the project is to strengthen the production and post-production capacities of young technicians from the Hauts-Bassins cinema.
”Young professional filmmakers from Hauts-Bassins, elite in the digital age” is a project supported by the CINOMADE association. It will be spread over 10 months, i.e. from 1is June 2023 to March 30, 2024. According to the president of the association, Lamissa Ouattara, this project aims not only to improve the quality of cinematographic works in the Hauts-Bassins region, but also to decentralize activities relating to Burkinabè cinema and familiarizing learners with information and communication techniques.
It also intends to develop entrepreneurial initiatives in the cultural sector, specifically in technology and to promote the genre, among other things, through training workshops. To do this, the president of the CINOMADE association maintains that twenty young cinema and audiovisual technicians, made up of ten camera operators, five sound engineers and five editors will take part in these capacity building sessions. According to him, the latter were selected following a call for applications in which several people expressed their interest. Furthermore, in its implementation, the project will be punctuated by two major activities.
The first will consist of holding three training workshops lasting two weeks each. The second will be the production of a professional film with twenty professional cinema and audiovisual technicians. For this purpose, a script was written by Nafissatou Laguempedo and a director was hired.
Lamissa Ouattara and her collaborators will however be able to count on the support of the audiovisual production house 7L’image, in particular with its platform for broadcasting cinematographic and audiovisual works in the Hauts-Bassins region, OUIMAG TV. Note that the project ”Young professional filmmakers from Hauts-Bassins, elite in the digital age” is subsidized, with the support of the European Union, by the Cultural and Tourist Development Fund to the tune of 9,958,454 FCFA. This sum represents 85% of the overall amount of the project which is 11,715,828 FCFA.
