IPCVA sponsors The Crossing 2023: An Adventure Race Fueled by Argentine Beef

He Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA) will be one of the main sponsors of The Crossing 2023one of the most important adventure races in the world, which will take place between December 1 and 6 in Bariloche.

This world-renowned race, in which physical effort and meat will be the protagonists, will have a distance of more than 100 km in 3 stages, uniting Argentina and Chile, and will bring together more than 4,500 athletes from 35 countries.

Each group of runners, who will start in 4 consecutive stages from Cerro Catedral, will be received at night in mountain camps with a great Argentine barbecue that will serve – as highly competitive athletes know – to nourish and recover their muscles but also to celebrate friendship and effort.

This “third time” of the post-race moment will be a very important point within El Cruce: after a hectic day in which more than 30 km are covered, the classic Argentine barbecue welcomes the runners, associating our most emblematic food with enjoyment, friendship and, obviously, muscle recovery.

El Cruce Race

More than 4,500 runners enjoying the “roast ritual” in one of the most important natural settings on the planet will be a very powerful image to highlight the importance of consuming an animal protein of high biological value for the good health of athletes.

The runners will also be welcomed at the final finish line with meat sandwiches at a start/finish point open to the public, where a fire and barbecue show will be presented where the IPCVA will disseminate the importance of beef consumption for the sport and a healthy life.

On this occasion, in addition, the Institute will participate in the race itself with five athletes “Ambassadors of Argentine meat” who will generate audiovisual material to promote the inclusion of meat in the diets required by athletes.

El Cruce Race

Valentina Kogan, director of the Runners’ Club – organizers of the race – assured that “having Carne Argentina as an ally is a huge step to continue improving the quality and service that makes El Cruce a different experience.”

Meat and sport

A balanced diet, especially for athletes, should include an adequate portion of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, minerals and vitamins with an adequate intake of foods of animal and plant origin.

Within the world of trail-runners these aspects are known and beef plays a fundamental role. According to the renowned cardiologist Jorge Tartaglione, “meat is a high-quality fuel for muscles since it has essential amino acids that our body does not produce and we need to incorporate them through food. In addition, beef has a higher protein value than proteins of plant origin. And the amino acids in meat favor the maintenance and repair of tissues. In addition, they are responsible for producing hormones and enzymes that regulate metabolism and other functions of the body.”

For his part, Dr. Julio Montero, nutritionist and president of the Argentine Society of Obesity and Eating Disorders, assures that “the proteins that most resemble human proteins are the most suitable for the generation of muscle, these are the ones that They contain the same amino acids that muscle proteins need. If you need to build muscle, you must eat muscle.”
