LONDON (VG) (Arsenal – Tottenham 2-2) Unfortunate involvements from Spurs stopper Cristian Romero (25) sent Martin Ødegaard’s Arsenal into the lead twice. Then captain Son Heung-min (31) took responsibility.

Argentinian centre-back Romero was last on the ball and scored an own goal when Arsenal took the lead in the first half, before he also grabbed a penalty after the break.
But to the rescue came Tottenham captain Son Heung-min, who equalized both after the own goal and after Bukayo Saka’s penalty in the north London derby that ended in a draw. Thus, both Spurs and Ødegaard’s Arsenal are unbeaten after the first six series rounds in the Premier League.
Arsenal captain Ødegaard looked anything but happy when the referee blew the whistle.
As several supporters reacted with light buzzing and a quick exit from the stadium, the Arsenal captain dropped to his knees and spent a few minutes looking down at the grass.
Ødegaard then started on his customary lap around the stadium. While the rest had disappeared into the dressing room, the Norwegian walked around, clapping and thanking for the support.

The Norwegian and the hosts got off to the best start before the break, but Tottenham scared the home fans at the Emirates in the opening minutes when Son put the ball in the net before three minutes had been played. The Korean was disallowed for a clear offside before Arsenal took over.
After 25 minutes, Oleksandr Zintchenko advanced on a transition and found Ødegaard, who again played to Saka on the edge. In familiar style, the winger pulled in towards his left foot and unleashed a shot. Via Romero, the finish went behind an outplayed Vicario, and Arsenal took the lead.
But Tottenham would wake up. The visitors played themselves into a huge opportunity towards the end of the half when Brennan Johnson was left completely unmarked in the Arsenal box. The striker, playing his first Premier League game as a starter for Spurs, had to see a huge save from Raya prevent an equalizer for the visitors.
– There is a candidate for this year’s rescue, commented Viaplay expert Lars Tjernås after seeing the chance in the replay:
But the maneuver the cage keeper made a few minutes later was not of the same quality. The Spaniard failed to pick a cross from the right, and Johnson had another great chance.
Then Raya saved again, but he could do little with Son slotting in the equalizer from close range after a strong build-up from James Maddison:
Shortly into the second half, Arsenal were awarded a penalty after Romero was again unlucky in his own penalty area. Ben White turned up and finished from close range after a corner, and the shot went up into the Argentinian’s arm.
After a VAR check, a penalty was awarded to the hosts, and Saka made no mistake from eleven metres.
Again, the 22-year-old celebrated with a dart throw in front of a euphoric home crowd, but the joy was short-lived.
Just 100 seconds later, Spurs captain Son had equalized again.
Midfielder Jorginho was inattentive and messed it up for himself when Maddison intercepted the ball in the hosts’ half and stormed forward. The pass to Son was perfect, and the finish likewise. Thus, the attacker could celebrate his second of the day in front of his own supporters in the away leg.
– You just have to love that commitment, but it’s a terrible moment for Jorginho. What does a player like that do with the experience he has there? commented Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.
Both teams had half-chances later in the half, but even with ten minutes of added time, neither the hosts nor the visitors could decide the match. Thus it ended 2–2 at the Emirates.
