The Limitations of a Core i7 920 System for Modern Tasks

Apologies for my long speech, but as someone who still has a Core i7 920 system and has followed all the upgrade paths (PCI-e NVMe SSD and 24GB RAM) I can say that there is not much you can do with this these days.
Even with multiple tabs open, the PC still has to work quite hard and playing YouTube can sometimes even cause frame drops or ‘stutter’ for a while.
A few years ago I had already written off this PC for daily use because even with a GTX 1080 GPU the PC performed very poorly, the CPU had simply become too slow and became the bottleneck for games and many other applications.

The i7 920 PC actually only serves as a video capture device here, because it is one of the latest and better systems that can still accommodate old-fashioned PCI cards with all my necessary old connections such as SCART, coax, s-video, etc. .just sit on it.
And it is also from the last systems on which a dual boot of Windows XP and Windows 7 still works with all drivers.

I prefer to edit videos on my new Ryzen, my i7 920 spends a whole day on a simple edit of a 60 minute tape, my current PC takes 25 minutes.

For daily use, you should have very low expectations for an i7 920, because many core i3s from a few years ago are already a lot faster.
