Man City Rodri Chokes Player: Guardiola’s Response and Apology

The second half did not go well for Man City. Rodri had an argument with Morgan Gibbs-White in the 46th minute, which resulted in a red card.

The Spanish midfielder was provoked and strangled Gibbs-White. Rodri’s choke actually only lasted about a second, but it was monitored by VAR and was considered violent.

Asked about communication with Rodri in the dressing room after the match, Guardiola said the 27-year-old player had apologized. Rodri admitted his mistake.

“He has done it. He has apologized. (He said) Sorry,” said Guardiola, quoted from the official Man City website.

Guardiola hopes this incident will not happen again. The Spanish tactician asked all his players to be able to control their emotions.

“Rodri has to control his emotions. I can get a yellow card, but Rodri can’t get a red card,” Guardiola continued.
