As part of a protest march, activists from the climate protection group “Last Generation” occupied an intersection in Berlin. According to the police, there had been a meeting of climate activists in the Apostle Church in Schöneberg beforehand, followed by a protest march of around 130 people.
When it was declared over, around 100 remaining demonstrators blocked the area at Potsdamer Strasse and Kurfürstenstrasse. The group did not use glue like in other campaigns.
Police officers carried the climate activists who did not tape themselves off the street and established their identities. There are hardly any traffic disruptions, a police spokeswoman told rbb, as traffic is already restricted due to the skater marathon nearby.
The “Last Generation” alliance criticized, among other things, the fact that the police checked everyone who arrived the morning before the group’s event in the Apostle Church and took down their personal details. A police spokeswoman spoke of “close observation” of the group, also because of the announced disruption to the marathon on Sunday. On Saturday, participants in the smaller skater marathon, among others, took part in the capital. According to the police, he was not affected by the action.
