Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Lebanese army said, on Saturday, that it fired tear gas in response to members of the Israeli army firing smoke bombs in the direction of a Lebanese patrol north of the Blue Line.
The Lebanese Army said in a statement published on its website, “Between 11:00 and 12:00, elements of the Israeli enemy violated the withdrawal line and fired smoke bombs at a Lebanese army patrol while accompanying a bulldozer that was removing an earthen berm erected by the Israeli enemy north of the withdrawal line.” The reserved blue line) in the Bastra area – the south.

The Israeli army has not yet issued any statement regarding tensions on the border with Lebanon.

Last August, the UN Security Council voted to renew the mandate of the temporary international peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) for a year. UNIFIL forces are present in southern Lebanon in the thorny areas on the border with Israel.
