Health Minister Veena George on Nipah Virus and Spillover in Kozhikode: Updates and Response to Shaji’s Insulting Remarks

Kozhikode: Muslim League leader K.M. Health Minister Veena George has no answer to Shaji’s insulting remarks. The health minister said that he has jobs as he likes and will not comment on Shaji’s remarks.

K.M., the ‘minister without end and spear’. Asked by reporters about Shaji’s abusive remarks, the minister said he had nothing to say about it, saying, “I am very busy.” He added that I have a job of my choice. The minister was speaking to the media after the Nipah review meeting.

The minister said that no new cases of Nipah have been confirmed in the last eight days. It was stated that the nine-year-old’s health had deteriorated and he was held by the hand. A sample of 372 people was examined. Currently 915 people are in isolation. The study will continue as to why the Nipah virus keeps coming to Kozhikode. The virus has not yet mutated. Everything possible will be done to find out how the spillover is happening, the minister said after the review meeting. N.I.V. Online classes will continue for children inside the containment zone. The minister said that schools should prepare a system for this and DDE has been given the responsibility in this regard.
