Bagneux Celebrates Funding Approval for Future High School Construction

This is good news for the town of Bagneux. The Ile-de-France region voted in a standing committee this Thursday on the budget to finance the study phase of the construction of the town’s future high school. “We were impatiently awaiting this news,” reacts Marie-Hélène Amiable, mayor (PCF) of the town. Thus, 8 million euros are granted for this phase. The total cost of the work is estimated at 65 million euros. Delivery of the 1,220-seat establishment in the heart of the Mathurins district, on the former site of the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) which folded in 2016, is scheduled for 2028.

A city mobilized for 50 years

“This operation responds to the lack of places in establishments in the south of Hauts-de-Seine,” writes the municipality in a press release. According to its projections, 700 additional high school students will live in Bagneux by 2030. Each year, a few high school students are already left behind without assignment while their local high schools are in Sceaux or Montrouge.

“This operation is the result of strong citizen mobilization in recent years,” continues the city. Human chain, petition, letter written by Gilles Leroy, Goncourt Prize 2007, native of the city and signed by a large number of personalities from the world of culture, the actions had multiplied.
