On the occasion of the visit of Vladimir Zelensky, the Government of Canada announced the introduction of sanctions against 63 Russian individuals and legal entities.

Details: According to the Canadian Prime Minister, the sanctioned persons are “involved in the illegal movement and maintenance of Ukrainian children, the generation and dissemination of disinformation and propaganda,” as well as the Russian nuclear program.
According to information on website Canadian Foreign Ministry, sanctions restrictions came into force on September 20.
The list mentions, among other things, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and its rector Anatoly Torkunov, the publications Vzglyad and Komsomolskaya Pravda (the latter is unofficially called “Putin’s favorite newspaper”).
Canada’s new restrictions also included the Higher School of Economics of the Russian Federation, Russian youth organizations “Yunarmiya”, “Young Guard” and “Movement of the First”, the so-called analytical centers – the Valdai Discussion Club, the Russian International Affairs Council and the Council on Foreign and Defense politics.
Among the individuals on the list are the Minister of Labor of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Primakov and the Russian Geographical Society, which is headed by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau signed updated free trade agreement between the two countries.
Canada has also prepared a new package of military aid for Ukraine by almost 483 million US dollars and join coalition to train Ukrainians on F-16 fighters
