It’s been a year since Take-Two and Wētā Workshop announced they were working on a Lord of the Rings game together, and a few things have changed. We weren’t told much at the time, except“It’s so different to anything the fans have played before.”Now we know why they say that.
Today’s trailer revealed that the game is called Tales of the Shire, and that Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two, will actually release it sometime in 2024. The name says it all, as Wētā Workshop’s Lord of the Rings game is described as a heart-warming game in which we will experience the cozy hobbit life.
That’s basically all we’ve been told directly, but Bywater is mentioned in the video, so it looks like the game will take place in that village. Top it off with cute creatures, plenty of images of food and fishing, and it’s clear that next year we’ll actually be living the Hobbit life. Only time will tell if this means we’ll get something akin to Animal Crossing, Analogy, Death Stranding, or something else on an as-yet-unspecified platform.
What kind of game do you want Tales of the Shire to be?
