King Charles III Proposes Franco-British Unity for Climate and Biodiversity Sustainability

After dedicating his speech, last night at the gala dinner in his honor at the Palace of Versailles, to the theme of the Franco-British bond, King Charles III, entering the French Senate for the first time and addressing the senators in French, spoke of the unity of purpose between London and Paris on Ukraine: “Together – said the British sovereign – we are indestructible in our determination to ensure that Ukraine triumphs and that the freedoms that are so dear to us are affirmed”.

Charles III, on the second day of his visit to Paris, therefore proposed that France and Great Britain commit to an “entity” for “sustainability”, with the aim of responding “more effectively to the global emergency in terms of climate and biodiversity”. Always a convinced supporter of the defense of the environment and of issues related to ecology in general, Charles III proposed to take inspiration in this alliance with Paris from the historic Entente cordiale, a text signed by the two countries in 1904 to overcome the strong differences of the time . The king explained the initiative with the need to follow “the example of the past” between the two countries to “face the immense challenges of the world around us”.
