No pharmacy in Bihor has reported to the County House of Health Insurance the impossibility of providing medicines to people with chronic conditions managed within the national health programs, says the general director of the institution, Dorel Dulău.
“No open circuit pharmacy (no – which sells pharmaceutical products to the general public) it did not inform us that it no longer markets drugs under the national health programs. All cancer patients in Bihor, for example, receive their medicines according to the legal provisions. Incidentally, CAS Bihor has so far settled all the obligations for the medicines from the national health programs”, he declared BIHOREAN head of CAS Bihor.
The insurance of CAS Bihor director comes in the context where, in the capital, there are pharmacies that no longer sell the most expensive drugs compensated for oncology and diabetes patients, because they have not been settled the amounts representing the counter value between the real prices of the drugs and the compensated prices on which chronic patients pay at the time of their purchase.
This week, the central press reported that in Bucharest, until last month, medicines from the national health programs were settled by the CAS after 90 days, and since August the settlements are made almost 120 days after the date of issuance. This practically leaves the pharmacies without liquidity to pay the medicines to the suppliers, the consequence being that they no longer deliver them, and the patients are left without them.
According to spotmedia.ro, several patient associations accused the fact that the national health programs – especially those for oncological diseases and diabetes – were left without funding, asking the Government and the National House of Health Insurance for a budget rectification for the allocation of additional funds .
“National health programs were left without funding, and Romanian patients were left without medicines. In the last two months, one after another, the national programs have run out of money. Chronic patients are sent home without treatment and without any other solution. Romanians’ lives are being extinguished and no one is responsible for all these avoidable deaths”, said in a statement the Alliance of Chronic Patients from Romania, the Association of Patients with Autoimmune Diseases and the Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients.
