Arsenal are back in the Champions League after a six-year absence.
Then they got off to a hot start and won against PSV Eindhoven 4–0.
– Being back in the Champions League is huge, says Arsenal’s Martin Ödegaard to TNT Sports.
Bukayo Saka stepped out at the Emirates in his first career Champions League game when Arsenal took on PSV Eindhoven.
The 22-year-old was brought up in Arsenal’s academy but since the club last played in the Champions League six years ago, he has never been given the chance on the biggest club team stage.
Once he got it, he delivered right away.
Bang start
Already after eight minutes, he stayed in front and splashed in a rebound on Martin Ödegaard’s shot.
2-0 came twelve minutes later when Leandro Trossard spot-kicked the ball into the net, played by Saka.
Arsenal’s red-hot half would continue.
In the 38th minute, it was Gabriel Jesus’ turn when he received Trossard’s cross and pounded the ball into the far post.
Ödegaard stepped forward
And it ended up being a comfortable 4-0 victory.
– We are in this tournament to fight to go all the way. It is a perfect start and now we have to continue working further, he says.
The Norwegian established the final result in the second half and afterwards he praised the framing.
– It was amazing. You could feel before the game that it was a special night for everyone. The atmosphere and everything about the Champions League was fantastic. We have to thank the fans once again.
