Importance of BCG Vaccination in CDMX to Eradicate Childhood Tuberculosis

The vaccination process in CDMX

At the moment BCG vaccine coverage in CDMX is at 98 percent of children under one year of age, which are applied with the intention of preventing and eradicating the disease of tuberculosis.

He explained that Immunizations are carried out continuously in the 233 health centers located in the 16 municipalities of Mexico City.

When should a baby not be vaccinated?

In order to promote the culture of vaccination and safeguard children’s health, the Secretary of Health of CDMX shared some recommendations to consider when immunizing an infant.

The health expert chooses not vaccinating a baby in the presence of any of the following scenarios.

Allergy to any component of the vaccine.

Presence of fever of more than 38 degrees.

Skin lesions.

Previous diagnosis of some type of cancer.

Immunosuppression treatment such as chemotherapy.

Patients with symptoms or diagnosis of AIDS.

Treatment against tuberculosis.

Infants weighing less than 2 kilograms
