BRATISLAVA. The football players of Feyenoord Rotterdam successfully entered the new season of the Champions League when they defeated Celtic Glasgow 2:0 on their home turf.
Two Slovak footballers also played in the jersey of the home team. Dávid Hancko played the entire match, Leo Sauer joined the fight in the 89th minute.
Thus, at the age of 17 years, nine months and three days, Sauer became the youngest ever Slovak to play in the group stage of the Champions League.
Stengs scored the opening goal at the De Kuip Stadium, Jahanbakhsh also scored in the 76th minute. The guests finished the game without the expelled Lagerbielke and Holm.
In the second meeting of the group, Atlético Madrid won 1-0 at Lazio Rome after a goal by Barrios, but the team from the eternal city saved a draw in the fifth minute of stoppage time thanks to a precise strike by goalkeeper Provedel.

In the opening day’s clash between PSG and Dortmund, the hosts had the upper hand in play and shooting, but the visitors were able to blunt their offensive weapons in the first half.
The disciplined defense allowed the home team only one more chance, when Vitinha stamped the post from the edge of the penalty area.
At the beginning of the second half, Mbappé converted the penalty after Süle’s hand and after a short check by VAR. The visitors opened the game but conceded a second time in the 58th minute when Hakimi exchanged the ball with Vitinho, blocked Hummels and added the second goal.
In the 79th minute, Bynoe-Gittens could have cut down, which hit the post. However, PSG has already secured the win and is at the top of the group. Milan Škriniar played the entire match.
City had it more difficult than Barcelona
Manchester City unexpectedly had to make up for the deficit at home. In the first half of the match with Crvena Zvezda, according to the assumptions, he clearly dominated, but his chances were caught by the visitors’ goalkeeper Glazer, and Haaland only hit the crossbar.
In added time came a shock in the blue part of Manchester. Ivanič pushed former Trenčín player Osman Bukari into the break, he was kept offside and opened the scoring with his team’s first ever shot.
But the equalizer came immediately after the change of sides thanks to Álvarez, who soon scored the winning goal. Rodri subsequently sealed the result at 3:1.
The most goals were scored in the H-group. Barcelona welcomed Antwerp to the Olympic Stadium and already in the first half “treated” them with a three-goal haul.
Joao Felix, Robert Lewandowski scored and Bataille scored an own goal. After the break, Gavi and Felix scored the second time (5:0).
In the next match of the group, Porto won over Shakhtar Donetsk 3:1. The duel was played in Hamburg, where the Ukrainian club pitched its tent this season.
Shakhtar is unable to play home games in its stadium due to the ongoing war conflict in Ukraine, last year it found a temporary home in Warsaw.
