Moscow. September 19. INTERFAX.RU – The Russian Embassy in Armenia is blocked by demonstrators, the normal functioning of the institution is impossible, a note has been sent to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the diplomatic mission told Interfax.
“We paid attention to the calls that spread on the Internet to hold a protest action near the building of the Russian Embassy in Armenia. After their appearance, the diplomatic mission was blocked, first partially and then completely. Normal functioning still remains impossible,” the embassy noted.
They added that diplomats are in contact with the competent authorities of the republic.
“We sent a note to the Armenian Foreign Ministry with the aim of taking measures to restore the normal functioning of the embassy in accordance with the obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The action continues, the situation remains tense,” the Russian Embassy said.
As an Interfax correspondent reports, a protest rally is taking place near the embassy building demanding an end to the military actions carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.
At the same time, the protest continues near the Armenian government building. Demonstrators are voicing anti-government slogans and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and a stop to Azerbaijan’s military operations.
