JawaPos.com – New feature called WhatsApp Channels which is similar to channel Telegram has been released for users in Indonesia.
Previously, this feature was introduced by WhatsApp in several selected countries, namely Colombia and Singapore on June 8 2023.
WhatsApp channels have many benefits for users. Starting from sharing the latest information directly within the WhatsApp application, adding external links, introducing the application, to measuring the interaction of WhatsApp Channel followers.

This feature can be created by individuals, organizations or other official parties. Users can access this feature in the latest versions of the WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business applications.
WhatsApp channels are similar to channel Telegram, where users will get information in the form of text, images, videos, stickers and links.
The difference is, users can only provide responses in the form of emoticons. Meanwhile, WhatsApp does not yet provide a comments feature to respond directly to the latest information on channels.

The first condition for creating a channel on WA is that you must be a verified user (WA Verified). The characteristic of a user who has become WA Verified is that they have a green tick (verified badge) next to the name.
Meanwhile, for users in general, they can only become followers of WhatsApp Channels.
Here’s how to create a WhatsApp Channel for verified users on Android, iOS, and desktop.

1. Open WhatsApp and go to the tab Update;
2. Tap the “+” icon, select it New Channel;
3. Tap Startfollow the instructions provided by WhatsApp;
4. Add description and icon for new channel;
5. End with Create a Channel.
In general, the steps to create a channel on WA on various different platforms are the same. Unverified users will not find the + (plus) icon in the tab Update.
Users who have just joined a channel will see an update history for the past 30 days. Then, updates on the channel will be deleted automatically by WhatsApp.
“We will only store channel history on the server for up to 30 days and we will add a way to remove updates more quickly from followers’ devices,” wrote WhatsApp on its official page.
Not only that, WhatsApp Channels are expected to become a feature that shares one-way information with followers privately. So the party will provide the option for admins to block screenshots from within the channel.
“Admins will also have the option to block screenshots and messages forwarded from their channels,” WhatsApp said.
