Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates Condemn Israeli extremists who stormed Masjid Al-Aqsa

Riyadh

Government Arab Saudi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) launches strong condemnation of ‘extremists’ Israel who stormed the complex Masjid Al-Aqsa under the protection of the Tel Aviv Police.

As reported Arab NewsTuesday (19/9/2023), Saudi authorities condemned the actions of Israeli ‘extremists’ who called them a ‘provocation’ against Muslims throughout the world.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, which is often a point of conflict between Israel and Palestine, is also revered by the Jewish community, which calls the holy site the Temple Mount. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and is managed by Jordan.

Non-Muslims can visit the holy site, but are prohibited from praying there.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveys the condemnation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque carried out by a group of extremists under the protection of the Israeli occupation police,” said a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs as quoted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

“The ministry emphasized that these practices are considered a blatant violation of all international norms and conventions, and are a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world,” added the statement.

The statement was released when the United States (US) sought to normalize diplomatic relations between Saudi and Israel. US Minister of Foreign Affairs Antony Blinken admitted that the process was difficult, especially regarding the Palestinian issue.
