A group of students from the educational institution Manuel Germán Cuello de Valledupar He protested to prevent the current academic coordinator Mario Montes from being transferred for the third time in less than two years.
“The only thing we are asking is that they let him finish the school year with us, just as they made one resolution they can make another. “Since the Ministry of Education does not want it, it is something else,” said one of the students.
According to official sources, in less than two years three coordinators from said school have been transferred for two of them allegedly being involved in corruption cases against the administration of the educational center.
However, on this occasion, the municipal Secretary of Education, Iván Bolaños Baute, has clarified that the change of coordinator is due to administrative processes and merit contests for teachers, coordinators and directors. This makes the change, according to the official, a mandatory intervention that is being carried out in the municipality of Valledupar.
“So far seven transfers have been made in the city, among them, the educational institutions Leonidas Acuña, Ciro Pupo, August 7, where the transfers have been made without any kind of reaction from the educational community. “Attitude that the students of Manuel Germán Cuello did take, who suspended classes against the measure”said Bolaños.
The secretary clarified that the changes in the structure of the teaching profession are not decisions that the municipal education entity can make. “They are orders that must be followed and are given after the results obtained in the merit contests carried out. “The work of coordinator Montes has already culminated on the campus, he will continue with his work in another school,” he claimed.
Given that the students may not be fully informed about the process of transferring directors in the administrative area of the schools, Bolaños announced that a pedagogical meeting will be held with the approximately 400 students who attend the afternoon session. This meeting aims to provide you with a thorough understanding of the process.
In addition to the controversy over the change of coordinator, students are also concerned about the deterioration of some areas within the educational institution. These areas have not received intervention in previous administrations, although the local Ministry of Education is aware of this situation. So far, no steps have been taken to improve these environments.
