After a long legal dispute between the artist and the museum, the district court in Copenhagen has now ordered the artist to return the money, reports BBC.

According to the artwork, Danish Radio consist of two glass frames with banknotes. The money, which the museum had lent the artist, was to be part of the painting.

However, that did not happen. Rather, the Kunsten Museum received “Take the Money and Run” in return, without the money.

The artwork was exhibited at the museum in 2021 and the first part of 2022.

– The work of art is that half a million is missing, Haaning previously stated to Danish P1 Morgen in 2021 about the background to his stunt.

He was then clear that he would not return the money, according to DR.

– No, I won’t be doing that. The work is that I have taken their money.

The museum director in Aalborg, Lasse Andersson, acknowledged to Dansk Radio that Haaning created an “interesting” work of art.

– Jens should have that, a work has been created which actually comments on the exhibition we have. But that’s not the deal we had.
