General Vlad Gheorghiță, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Romanian Army, detailed how the Romanian Army is prepared to use anti-aircraft defense in the Russian drone crisis.
The Romanian Army is taking additional security measures at the border with Ukraine, after the remains of several drones were discovered in Tulcea county.
Outside of the expanded air defense areas, the army will also install sensors that will double the surveillance area in the area. The sensors should indicate the presence of drones as long as they are not observed on the Tulcea radar.
On Friday, several military specialists scanned the area from a helicopter to identify the areas. So far, remains of 3 drones have been discovered in Tulcea county. For two of them MAPN specified that they are similar to those used by the Russian army in Ukraine.
General Vlad Gheorghiță, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Romanian Army, detailed how the Romanian Army is prepared to use anti-aircraft defense in the Russian drone crisis.
“We decided to deploy around 600 soldiers to strengthen the defense line here in northern Dobrogea. We also deployed some radars, activated our defenses and had many discussions with our partners and allies. We will find a solution to resist Russian aggression. Depending on the level of the threat, we are ready to use all military power to defend Romania’s territory,” said General Vlad Gheorghiță, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Romanian Army, in an interview given to the press swedish
Asked how he sees these statements, General Cristian Barbu said:
“As Gheorghiță also said, it is the idea of a threat. You see the whole text is related to threatened. He uses the word threat. This is a matter of interpretation. He directs at me means that there is already the identified threat. The moment he does not direct towards me, and as those remains were I cannot do this.
But if, for example, it flies tangent to the border, then it is not a threat. If it’s a case of aggression, then yes, you use all the capacity,” General Cristian Barbu said on CNN’s Antena 3.
