According to him, Russian national teams and clubs will be able to return to participation in UEFA-sponsored competitions only after the end of Russian military operations in Ukraine. “Russia will return to football only when the events in Ukraine are over,” said the head of UEFA.
He spoke about the details of the suspension of cooperation with the Russian company “Gazprom”. He said that this decision was, above all, a symbolic act. He also said that it was difficult to advertise Gazprom during Ceferin’s campaign of sanctions against Russia: “It is very sad for me, but it has to be done. we were However, it must be admitted that in most cases, those who still buy gas from the same company complain about this issue,” the UEFA president added.
It should be noted that Russian clubs and national teams were excluded from participation in UEFA international competitions in February 2022. At the same time, UEFA terminated the sponsorship agreement with Gazprom, the official sponsor of the Champions League since 2012.
