ABU DHABI, 18th September, 2018 (WAM) – The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has launched new improvements to the pre-arrival clearance system and transit permits for trucks through Abu Dhabi land ports through the “Issuing a Truck Transit Permit” service, which will facilitate the process of issuing the customs declaration before transport trucks arrive at the land port, in a way that supports… Organizing transit, enhancing flow and contributing to reducing clearance and release times for goods to facilitate the movement of trade across the emirate. The new improvements will be effective as of September 18, 2023 through the Al-Ghuwaifat land border port as a first stage, where the obligation to prepare the customs declaration in advance will be implemented by entering the data of the goods and the necessary attachments for the clearance process, and issuing a transit permit for the truck before arriving at the Al-Ghuwaifat land border crossing. The new improvements to the pre-arrival clearance system and truck crossing permits at the Ghuwaifat border port, in the event of exiting the country, will require the issuance of a loaded truck transit permit, where the customs declaration number and Saudi clearance permit information are entered and the date of arrival at the corresponding border port is determined to obtain the crossing permit. In the event of entry into the country, a transit permit for a loaded truck will be issued automatically along with the completed customs declaration, before the truck leaves the corresponding port. The system aims to prepare in advance to deal with clearance procedures for shipments before they arrive at the border port, as well as employing and analyzing the data entered into the truck movement permit system to explore ways to facilitate merchants, clearers, and the business sector, especially with regard to the time of clearance, inspection, and crossing from the border port. His Excellency Mubarak Matar Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Customs Operations Sector, explained that improving the pre-arrival clearance system and transit permits for trucks through Abu Dhabi land ports, starting from the Ghuwaifat border port, comes as part of Abu Dhabi Customs’ ongoing efforts within the framework of the “Abu Dhabi Effortless Customer Experience Program” to improve the level of services and increase customs facilities. Provided to customers and raising the level of trust between the parties to the commercial process in the public and private sectors, the improvements also help in organizing the movement of goods and means of transportation through the border crossings, and preventing congestion by organizing the roles of trucks and harmonizing them with working times at the border crossings of the country and neighboring countries.
