Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Coach Indonesian U-24 National Team Indra Sjafri regrets Persis Solo’s decision not to let go Ramadhan Sananta to play in the 2023 Asian Games.
“From the results of my discussions and commitments with the clubs, one of which was Persis Solo, previously agreed to provide players to strengthen the Asian Games national team. For Persis Solo we are calling only one player, namely Ramadhan Sananta,” said Indra Sjafri, quoted from the official PSSI website, Monday (18 /9).
Exactly in an official statement, Sunday (17/9), he stated that he could not let Sananta go because of the striker crisis to navigate League 1.
Exactly the loss of Irfan Jauhari who was injured for a long time after playing in the AFF U-23 Cup, Arkhan Kaka underwent a training camp for the Indonesian U-17 National Team in Germany for the 2023 U-17 World Cup, and Fernando Rodriguez had to return to Spain due to personal problems.
Indra explained that Persis was previously willing to let Sananta go after the match against PSIS Semarang in the 12th week of Liga 1 2023/2024, Saturday (16/8). But then Persis changed his mind.
Sananta also canceled his trip to Hangzhou, China, to play in the 2023 Asian Games. The 20-year-old player did not go with Alfeandra Dewangga, Ananda Rehan, Rachmat Irianto and George Brown.
“With Persis Solo’s permission and the manager’s commitment, Persis agreed for Sananta to join with the request to play first against PSIS Semarang, on September 16 2023. We agreed and agreed that the player concerned would leave for Huangzhou on September 18 2023 in the morning,” said Indra.
“But in the end, Sananta was not allowed to leave. Even though an ID card had been issued by the Asian Games committee. Departure tickets to Huangzhou had also been prepared for all players who took the flight on September 18 in the early hours of 00:15 WIB,” added Indra.
Apart from that, Indra doesn’t want to get carried away with Persis’ attitude of not letting go of Sananta. Indra tried to think positively and chose to look at the first match with optimism.
The Indonesian U-24 National Team’s first match at the 2023 Asian Games will be against Kyrgyzstan. This match will take place at the Zhejiang Normal University East Stadium on Tuesday (19/9) evening.
