After Nantes, Saint-Etienne and even Lille, and before Marseille then the Stade de France, the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra went to the Allianz Riviera this Sunday.
His goal? Come and meet the public, the teams working around this World Cup and discover the security system put in place within the Nice venue.
“Maximum mobilization”
With two major concerns: securing the enclosure and transporting supporters to the stadium, which was particularly pointed out at the Vélodrome during England – Argentina.
“The mobilization is maximum. We want the experience to be as safe as possible, as it has been since the start of this World Cup, thanks to a significant level of anticipation, coordination and proactive information. We wants to provide security, so that there is good fluidity around the arrival of spectators at the stadium.”
Among the measures put in place at short notice: the closing of refreshment bars around the stadium one hour before kick-off, and the opening of the doors three hours before the start of the match (compared to two previously).
“We work with the towns’ businesses and bars so that everyone arrives at the stadium early enough. To do this, they must have something to spend a pleasant time once they are near the stadium.”
Finally, the minister ensured that a system had been put in place at each entrance to the stadium so that there were security agents dedicated to female supporters at each entrance.
“We aim for excellence to live up to the spectators from all over the world, and to this competition which is experiencing extraordinary enthusiasm.”
After her tour of the square, where she sang the Marseillaise with Japanese supporters, chatted with a few English people (who then asked us if it was okay… the mayor of Nice) and bought an England jersey, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra attended the meeting.
Did she enjoy the oval spectacle? Probably more than the streaker who appeared on the pitch at half-time.
