French “Balmain”: A fashion collection was stolen before it was shown in Paris
The creative director of the French fashion house Balmain, Olivier Roustan, said that the house lost dozens of pieces that were scheduled to be unveiled during a fashion show in Paris this month after a truck transporting clothes was robbed.
Rostan said in a post on “Instagram” that the thieves seized the truck, which was carrying approximately 50 pieces of the new Balmain collection, on the road between Paris Airport and the brand’s headquarters in the French capital, and added that the truck driver was fine.
He said in his letter: “We are working on redesigning all (the pieces) again, but what happened was absolutely outrageous.”
Balmain is scheduled to present its spring-summer 2024 collection on September 27 during Paris Fashion Week, in which other high-end brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, and Hermes, participate.
A Balmain spokesman confirmed the organization of the fashion show in Paris, declining to comment on the theft incident pending the outcome of the investigation.
