The Municipality of Derna calls on citizens to register buildings affected by floods
Abdullah Batili, head of the United Nations mission, who completed a visit to the city of Derna on Saturday evening, saw that this crisis exceeds Libya’s ability to manage it, and transcends politics and borders, while Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the “National Army,” held a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Abdel Razzaq Al-Nadhouri, to discuss the repercussions of the hurricane.
The UN envoy to Libya said in a statement that he left the city “with a sad heart,” after seeing the devastation caused by the floods to lives and private and public property, pointing out that these were heartbreaking scenes, given the scale of the disaster he witnessed up close.
He stressed that the United Nations is cooperating effectively with local authorities and relief agencies on the ground, “to provide the necessary assistance to those in need, in conjunction with the United Nations team also conducting further assessment of the situation to enhance coordination of response efforts in Derna and other affected areas.”

Osama Hammad, head of the parallel stability government, accompanied Batelli and his deputy on a tour of the neighborhoods and regions of the stricken city of Derna, pointing out that his government “was the first to respond to the Mediterranean storm even before it occurred, and took quick and decisive measures, formed emergency rooms, and supported the forces of the National Army.” It also organized the arrival of rescue and relief teams even before it happened.”
He pointed out that the Ministry of Health is working to provide all health services, and is working with the Attorney General to ensure legal procedures for victims, missing persons, and families who have left their homes.
He reviewed what the government had done regarding facilitating the arrival of all international rescue teams, and helping them move to work in various areas of Jabal al-Akhdar and Derna, in addition to securing schools and other places for families whose homes were destroyed, in order to ensure the fastest humanitarian response to mitigate the impact of the disaster and address its repercussions. .

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, also announced that he would conduct an inspection tour of the city of Derna to see the extent of the damage to the city as a result of the floods that swept it, and to provide the necessary services to the affected families.
During his meeting with the designated mayor of the municipality of Derna and a number of service agency officials, Saleh affirmed his keenness to provide “everything necessary for the municipality of Derna to confront the disaster,” pointing out that he also inspected in the city of Qobba the conditions of the displaced from the city of Derna, where he directed to provide them with the necessary support.
On the other hand, Malta’s Minister of Interior and Security, Byron Camilleri, denied the death of any member of its team participating in the rescue work in Derna, and said in a statement that all Maltese rescue personnel are fine and will return to Malta.
For its part, the Derna Municipal Council called on citizens to register buildings damaged as a result of torrents and floods, while the Environmental Sanitation Office of the Derna Municipality stressed the importance of citizens’ safety, noting that it “immediately began working to sterilize places where bodies and headquarters are collected.”
In turn, the Red Crescent Society in Tripoli called on citizens who have missing persons to go to its branches in any city and register the data of the missing persons, indicating that this data will be collected on the unified hurricane victims platform in cooperation with the Communications and Informatics Commission.
In turn, Russian Deputy Defense Minister General Yunus Bek Yevkurov offered his condolences for the flood victims to Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the National Army.
