The immense silhouette of the Utopia of the Seas, which had been growing for 14 months in form B of the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, shook in the early morning of Saturday September 16. After its launch and the opening of the hold on the Loire estuary, the giant liner, still devoid of functional propulsion, was taken out by the Boluda port tugs and taken to basin C, where its completion will continue.
Deliverable in March 2025 to the American company Royal Caribbean International (RCI), the Utopia of the Seas is the sixth liner in the Oasis class. And, as with each new unit in this series, it is a little bigger than its predecessors. Its tonnage is approximately 240,000 tons, for a length of 362 meters and a width of 47 meters at the waterline (up to 66 meters at the level of the superstructures).
