It’s wild conditions in the Diamond League finals in Eugene on Sunday. And the evening ended with another world record. Armand Duplantis cheered wildly when he set a world record for the seventh time in a row, now the 23-year-old increased by one centimeter to 6.23 metres.

– I knew it was possible, but that it actually happened is difficult to explain. I really wanted to take it, says Duplantis to NRK.

– I want to do more and jump higher, continued Duplantis, who also said that it was nice to end the season with a bang.

– Absolutely incredible, says former pole vaulter Alhaji Jeng in SVT.

– It looks so easy and nice. We just sit and wait for the list to rise to 6.23 metres. The rest feels like a transport stage for him, Jeng continues.

This is the second time he has set a world record in Eugene. During the WC in July last year, he jumped 6.21 metres. He increased the world record earlier this year when he jumped 6.22 meters in an event in France in February.

– He flies higher and higher every year. He is approaching heaven, exclaimed NRK’s commentator Jann Post when Duplantis sneaked over the list.
