On Saturday, the former leader of the Central Party, Jüri Ratas, thanked the party’s former general secretary Jaanus Karilaidi, who decided to join Isamaa after the recent leadership change, for everything he had done.
“When I arrived at the Center Party, you were already there. Rebelled and actively edited. We weren’t great comrades at the beginning, but the political path in the party brought us both opposite and together,” Ratas recalls on social media. “You didn’t vote for me in the Estonian Olympic Committee (EOK) elections because you thought I was needed more in the party. I didn’t hold a long grudge.”
“At the same time, Keski’s values were largely similar to ours, sincerely wanting to raise people’s confidence, contribute to sports and movement, and once again pulling this train towards Läänemaa. I guess you would be satisfied with Haapsalu, I with Rohuküla. You built the Central Party in Haapsalu and led the coalition for years. Your action together [Haapsalu] with mayor Urmas Sukles, there is a rare trust between two political communities,” wrote Ratas.
“Jaanus, I thank you for the time we spent together in the Center Party. I wish you new political successes in the Isamaa party. Go find out when we can cooperate in politics again,” says Ratas’ thank you post.
