Until the closing of this edition, the public was waiting for the participation on stage of “La Sonora del Compadre Moncho”.The activities continue this Saturday with typical gastronomy and different folklore shows.
At noon this Friday, the authorities headed by Mayor Camilo Benavente, cut the ribbon of a new version of the Chilenidad Festival, an activity that will extend until this Sunday with artistic presentations, folklore shows, local crafts, typical food and popular games .
The activity began on the central stage of the Regional Government esplanade where the Municipality also awarded distinctions to the folklore groups with the longest history in the region: Peñihuen, Palomar and Nanihue. The centuries-old tradition of cacho de chicha was also fulfilled, thanks to the sponsorship of Rómulo and Rodrigo Palavecino who offered the drink from the local Ondel’ Pala.
A little later, the municipal and regional authorities toured the facilities that are located around the Plaza de Armas. At the close of this edition, the participation on stage of “La Sonora del Compadre Moncho” was expected.
Mayor Camilo Benavente was in charge of extending the invitation to the public. “We have a varied artistic grill with folklore groups of tremendous level, with gastronomy, with typical juices and most importantly, with security, we already saw it in the Festival of the Longaniza, here it is safe, calm, and I want to highlight that all the officials working and we invite people who can come to the Plaza de Armas this weekend until Sunday. Remember that on Monday we will participate in the Te Deum in the Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. and later in the parade through the streets of the city,” he indicated.
Activities this Saturday
The Chilenidad Festival opens its doors this Saturday in the morning. From 1:00 p.m. onwards there is a program of different groups such as Amanecer Campesino, Pilmaiken, Peñihuen, Los Guatones Leales and Pasión Tropikal. Meanwhile, for this Sunday, the last day of the Chilenidad Festival, the presentation of Alma de Ñuble, Los Primos, Palomar, Fusión Urbana and JP Cumbia is expected. The best empanada
At the same time, yesterday the contest was held to choose the Best Empanada, a prize that was won by the El Sureño Restaurant. Second place went to Servipan and third place went to Mi Tierra. The contest was organized by the Municipality of Chillán, the Chamber of Commerce and Inacap, among others.
