The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max: More RAM and Increased Battery Capacity

The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have more RAM than their predecessors
All models also had a symbolic increase in battery capacity
But endurance has not changed in any way despite more efficient chipsets

In the past week, Apple introduced a new generation of iPhones with a lot of improvements. In many areas, the basic models have caught up with last year’s “pros”, but this year’s flagship iPhones 15 Pro have overtaken them again – they received a new Apple A17 Pro chipset, a titanium body, a programmable button and better cameras. Apple has traditionally kept RAM and battery capacities secret, but their values were leaked to the Internet before the new iPhones went on sale.

More RAM for “Pro”

This year’s top models, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, are powered by the brand new Apple A17 Pro chipset manufactured by the 3nm process from TSMC. The company from Cupertino boasted about partial changes inside the chipset, but the result was below expectations – the performance of the processor cores increased by only 10 percent, for the graphics chip, Apple only boasted about greater efficiency and support for Ray Tracing. And what about the operating memory?

According to information “extracted” from the Xcode 15 Release Candidate, Apple gave its new chip 2 GB more RAM than the previous generation, so it has a total of 8 GB. The basic iPhones 15 and 15 Plus remained “on their own”, their A16 Bionic chipset contains the same 6 GB of RAM as in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro.

Battery capacities have increased minimally

The battery capacity has also surfaced, which is a rather interesting topic for this year’s model range. While from previous years we were used to a gradual increase in endurance, this year’s iPhones are supposed to last for a full charge just like last year’s, despite the use of more efficient chipsets. Logically, it was speculated that Apple placed batteries with a lower capacity in the new iPhones, but the opposite is true.

According to the MySmartPrice server, the batteries of all this year’s iPhones have had a small capacity increase, as follows:

iPhone 14
iPhone 15
difference
basic
3 279 mAh 3 349 mAh +70 mAh
Plus
4 325 mAh 4 383 mAh +58 mAh
Pro
3 200 mAh 3 274 mAh +74 mAh
Pro Max
4 323 mAh 4 422 mAh +99 mAh

The differences are really minimal and it is possible that a few extra minutes can be “squeezed” out of the new iPhones. But in the technical specifications, Apple states the endurance of its phones in hours, and therefore does not boast of any increase in time.
