The British newspaper “The Times” has a large article on the 20-year prison sentence given to the right-hand woman of the “crypto queen” Ruzha Ignatova, who remains free, while the victims of their scams continue to face huge bills and even facing death threats.
As the right-hand man of the infamous Bulgarian crypto-queen, British financial analyst Sebastian Greenwood enjoyed a luxurious life with designer clothes, a private jet, real estate and designer watches, writes The Times.
Greenwood, 46, from London, and Ruzha Ignatova, a glamorous Bulgarian national who graduated from Oxford, co-founded the fake cryptocurrency OneCoin, which was about to become the world’s biggest scam.
This week, as he was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a US court for the $4 billion Ponzi scheme, his victims said they were still suffering, facing death threats and hefty bills.
His partner in crime Ignatova, dubbed “The Missing Crypto Queen” on a popular BBC podcast, is on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list and remains at large, allegedly using mafia connections to escape the police.
Among their victims is 53-year-old Jennifer McAdam, who wrote a book about her experience called The Devil’s Coin, which will be made into a movie.
Kate Winslet is set to play Jennifer McAdam and visited her for a cup of tea at her home in Glasgow. Last month, McAdam had to cancel his book launch after receiving death threats. She is now a target for mafia figures involved in the scam after becoming an advocate for other victims.
“I don’t think Sebastian got a long enough prison sentence. I’ve spoken to thousands of his victims, including a group of 33 men who said they were on the verge of suicide because of their losses,” McAdam told the Times.
She recalls that she put in all of her £9,000, the entire inheritance from her father, and friends and other family members put in another £250,000. And she shares that when she found out about the fraud, she was literally sick, but she decided to speak openly about the case.
