Inter Miami Announces Partnership with Miami Sharks Rugby Team for Shared Training Ground

American Inter Miami, which includes Argentine soccer world champion Lionel Messi, will share its training ground with a new rugby team, according to what was announced on Friday.

The Miami Sharks will join the Rugby Union League starting next season, and will train and play their home matches in a facility that is part of the complex that houses Macy’s Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

“The Miami Sharks will join Inter Miami’s first team, second team and academy teams in the first quarter of 2024,” the club said in a statement.

Similar to Inter Miami, there will be a strong Argentine influence for the Sharks team, as it has included Argentine star Thomas Cubelli (33 years old).

Cubelli played 89 international matches with Argentina and is currently defending his colors in the World Rugby Championship.

“I am excited to join the Miami Sharks and move to Miami, the professional sports capital of the world,” Copelli said.

Inter Miami intends to move to its new stadium in Miami in 2025, but it intends to continue its training at the Fort Lauderdale facility.
