Julio Victoria: Colombian Producer Blends Academic Music and Culturally Influential Instruments in Fourth Album

For more than ten years, the fusion of academic music melodies along with the sounds of some representative instruments of Colombian culture, such as the marimba de chonta, and synthesizers have brought recognition to Julio Victoria’s musical career.

Originally from the Coffee Region, the producer has visited the most important and representative nightclubs of electronic music around the planet.
From the now defunct Concrete in Paris, to Space Club in Miami, Contact in Tokyo, Printworks in London and many other places, considered temples for lovers of this popular musical genre, are just some of the clubs on the extensive list of presentations by Julio Victoria.

After returning from a tour of Europe, where she visited Hungary, Portugal, Germany, Finland and Spain, Victoria returns to Colombia announcing the release of her fourth album, which was released on September 6 with the first single ‘Memories Flowing ‘.

A reunion with memory

The inspiration behind this first single dates back to Victoria’s childhood years: “My childhood memories are the great inspiration behind this song. I grew up in a place (Eje Cafetero) surrounded by natural landscapes and this ‘track’ ( musical cut) made me reconnect with my emotions. I remembered my childhood again in the midst of the contrast of my life today.”

“‘Memories Flowing’ is a song in which I begin to show a new facet of my career. In this work I connect the vocals more with sound experimentation. It brings back many memories, and it is this nostalgia that leads me to renew many things of my current life.

The vocals in this musical installment were performed by Samson for President, a Swedish singer. Victoria referred to Samson as “someone he wanted to work with for a long time because of his line of experimental music.”

Julio Victoria will be performing in different cities in Colombia, premiering ‘Memories Flowing’ and other songs that make up the album that will be released in November.
