Import Duties and Taxes for iPhone 15 in Indonesia

Jakarta

Apple has just released the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max and you can now pre-order. If you are interested, Singapore is the closest country to buy or order this cell phone (cell phone).

Responding to this, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance emphasized that every Indonesian citizen who buys goods from abroad for more than US$ 500 or Rp. 7.5 million (exchange rate Rp. 15,000) will be subject to import duties and import taxes.

So, the newly released iPhone falls into the category of the provisions above.

“Whether it is passenger luggage or goods sent from abroad, the import of only two cellphones is permitted,” wrote DJBC in the X account (Twitter), Friday (15/9/2023).

For example, if you buy an iPhone 15 with a capacity of 128 GB directly from Singapore for US$ 799, and carry it as passenger baggage, the import duties and taxes are as follows:

Passengers’ personal luggage is subject to import duty of 10%, VAT of 11% and PPh of 10-20%.

Item value: US$ 799

Exemption: US$ 500

Value subject to levy: US$ 299

Tax rate: IDR 15,000

Customs value (NP): US$ 299 x Rp. 15,000 = Rp. 4,485,000
Import duty (BM): 10% x NP = 10% x IDR 4,485,000 = IDR 448,500.

Import value (NI): NP + BM = IDR 4,933,500
VAT: 11% x NI = 11% x IDR 4,933,500 = IDR 542,685
PPh (NPWP owner): 10% x NI = 10% x IDR 4,933,500 = IDR 493,350
PPh (don’t have NPWP): 20% x NI = 20% x IDR 4,933,500 = IDR 986,700

Total bill: BM + VAT + PPh
– IDR 1,484,535 (for NPWP holders)
– IDR 1,977,885 (for those who don’t have a NPWP)
