NEW YORK — Wrecked cars piled on top of each other stunned Brooklyn drivers Friday morning as they stepped out to see the remains of a bus driver’s brief rampage.

Authorities say the driver of an MTA bus crashed into at least three parked cars in the Mill Basin neighborhood around 10 a.m. Footprints show where the cars were pushed onto a nearby lawn, onto the front steps of a house.

Surveillance video captured the early morning crash along Avenue U and Mill Avenue. A B47 bus was caught on video crashing and smashing into parked cars, knocking down at least two of them.

Fortunately no one was injured.

Margaret Blair, whose home was almost hit by the chaos, claims the driver of the B47 bus did not stop after the accident and continued driving down the road.

“I just heard a crunching sound, I thought it was a recycling truck. When I heard the car alarm, I knew it was something serious,” Blair said. “We all ran out and saw a car in my yard, and one car riding on top of another. What do we know?”

The cause of the bus driver’s destruction is unknown, but transit officials say the operator was removed from service.

New York City Public Transportation President Richard Davey said, “The bus operator involved was immediately removed from service and sent for routine drug and alcohol testing to determine his fitness for service.”

“We are grateful that no one was injured as a result of this mishap and we are fully cooperating with the NYPD’s review to determine the facts,” the statement continued.
